Late Night Electrical fire

Sunday night August 24th at 2240 hours the Springfield fire company was dispatched to Moe’s Tavern at 121 South State road for a Building Fire. On arrival of Chief 44-9 there was a light smoke condition inside the building. The crew from Engine 44-1 went in service with hand tools and a thermal imaging camera, while the crew from Tower 44, laddered the building.

The cause of the smoke was due to an electrical malfunction of the restaurant sign on the exterior of the building. The crew from Engine 44-1 secured power to the sign and provided ventilation for the building. Units remained on scene until 0010 hours.

The units operating on the scene were, Engine 44-1, Engine 44-2, Tower 44, Medic 53, Snorkel 23 for RIT, Springfield Police and Fire Police.
