Passing of Junior Member Ethan J. Byrne

I can’t believe as an officer that I am writing these words. Springfield Fire Company regrets to announce the unexpected death of active junior member Ethan J. Byrne. Ethan joined the fire company at the age of 14 on May 30, 2017 as a cadet member. On his application for membership when asked why he wanted to join he wrote “to help the community and be part of an important cause”. During his short time he responded to 714 fire calls, 116 trainings and 134 fire company events. The members of the company are devastated by his loss. His last alarm call was 2020-0687 on Saturday October 17, 2020. The hearts of the fire company ache for his family, his friends and the community who lost a “great kid”. Please keep his family in your thought and prayers.
