Run for Heroes - October 12th, 2008 - 9am
The 8th Annual Run for Heroes 5k Run / Walk will be held on Sunday, October 12th at 9am in Springfield, Delaware County.  The race start and finish line is the Township Building, 50 Powell Road.  The event is a fundraiser that benefits the Delaware County Hero Scholarship Fund, for the children of Police, Firefighters and Emergency Medical Responders who have died in the line of duty.  Thirty-one children presently receive scholarship money from the fund, which has raised over $180,000 since 2000.  The race is fun and competitive, with cash prizes to the top racers.  Many people walk the scenic course with friends and family.  Most importantly, the event benefits a worthy cause, even more so with the loss of FF Michael Reagan and Lt. Nicholas Picozzi Jr. within the past year.

There is also a Top Emergency Responder Team award for the event.  The fastest Team takes possession of the Team Cup for one year.  Springfield Police won the award in 2002 and 2003 and Springfield Fire Company has held the award for the past 4 years (2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007).

To register on-line or for more information, go to www.delcorunforheroes.com

Please pass on the information to all members that may be interested.  We are hoping for a big turnout from the emergency services community to show their support of this event.
